Images of HIV / AIDS Around the World
Produced by a research team at Stanford University, Images of HIV/AIDS Around the World is a 25 minute
video documentary featuring excerpts from 112 television public service announcements (PSA's) from 27 countries including Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Fast-paced and highly entertaining, the video demonstrates how
different cultures have used humor, fear, love, logic and authority to inform audiences about HIV/AIDS. It also illustrates the exceptional creativity in presenting safe sex and HIV/AIDS through symbols, letters and, occasionally, people.
Because of the richness and diversity of its information, Images of HIV/AIDS Around the World is useful to anyone creating HIV/AIDS educational materials. While particularly helpful to those working in cross-cultural contexts, it also
describes basic principles of effective message construction. Available in English, VHS NTSC and PAL - 25 minutes Produced by Deborah Johnson with support from Stanford Health Promotion Resource Center.
